Today we’re launching a new security and data science blog where we’ll discuss technical topics and share insights from our expert Security and Data Science team here at Nominum. As the leader of this team, I’m excited to have this blog be a way to share some of our findings with a more technical audience—people who love cybersecurity, data, DNS, and all the exciting new developments on the internet (and who doesn’t?).
Security research and data science are a big part of what we do at Nominum. To give us insights into what’s happening online around the world, especially with regard to emerging cyberthreats and new techniques used by cybercriminals to avoid detection, many of our service provider customers share anonymous DNS data with us. Our data science “warriors” analyze 100 billion queries a day to detect anomalous activities and malicious attacks, among other things. Having access to such a massive amount of data shines the light on many cyberthreats that others don’t see.
We intend to use this blog to share the details of our approach and the technical challenges we face as the world’s leading provider of DNS-based security and solutions. We want it to be a way for security professionals and fellow engineers in our industry to understand Nominum’s take on the technology issues and trends that emerge every day. We invite you to participate in the conversation and share your own thoughts and ideas, and I thank you in advance for reading!
