We are looking for a Product Management professional who has direct and relevant DNS and DHCP experience in a service provider network. This person will be responsible for effectively identifying and prioritizing investments that yield superior customer relevancy and competitive differentiation. The role demands an ability to think beyond individual products and features and focus on solutions for tomorrow’s broadband and wireless networks.
This person will work closely with field personnel both on the Sales and Technical (SE) side as well as internal resources including, but not limited to Engineering and Operations. In addition to internal product and solution development, this person will also work closely with customers and partners to understand and address broadband needs while also serving as a resource for information and as a thought leader for new and innovative ways to leverage technology to enhance user Internet experience.
The candidate will be responsible for owning, developing and executing all development activity associated with specific Nominum core offerings and solutions. This will include writing Requests for Enhancement (RFE) and Market/Product Requirements Docs (MRD/PRD) while assisting Engineering in developing technical and testing specifications. In addition, this role will support similar development efforts with partner solutions built as OEM or fully embedded or simply via integration mechanisms not requiring internal Engineering work.
Responsibilities:
Analyze the worldwide service provider market landscape and competitive environment
Define product vision and direction for Nominum core products and solutions
Coordinate product development with engineering, field teams and other Nominum Product Managers
Analyze and support partnerships with 3rd Party products and solutions
Work with customers, partners, internal field personnel and prospects to develop product requirements
Work with engineers and partners to define clear technical product specifications
Write Requests for Enhancement (RFEs), Market/Product Requirements Docs (MRD/PRD) and other supporting materials for product enhancement
Own end-to-end delivery of product features
Develop and launch new releases
Work with Sales Directors and Systems Engineers to obtain information to answer Engineering questions
Work with documentation and Marketing teams to create and review the creation of data sheets, printed manuals, and other training materials
Support preparation of product overview presentations
Evangelize the advantages of replacing alternative solutions with Nominum and the increasingly critical role of DNS and DHCP
Educate and train internal and external groups on product positioning and key selling strategies
Guide, review and edit responses to RFI’s and RFP’s
Support the field in overcoming customer objections
Qualifications and Experience
5+ years of strong contribution to customer-driven product management
5+ years of direct and hands on experience with DNS and DHCP solutions at a service provider or Network Equipment Provider supporting this type of customer
Deep knowledge of networking and service provider IP network infrastructure
Hands on experience with IPv6 and migration technologies such as DNS64/NAT64
Understanding of DHCPv4 and DHCPv6 implementations
Demonstrated capacity for developing and understanding strategy
Outstanding organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Clear written and oral communication skills
BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field (MS/MBA a strong plus)
Skills
Ability to organize, plan and lead projects from conception to completion
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills and the ability to interact effectively with peers, internal/external clients and prospective clients
Fluent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in a business environment
Unix experience is preferred
Ability to learn feature development and tracking systems
