Vantio UAR

“Solve issues fast”

With the Vantio User Access and Remediation (Vantio UAR™) software module, we’ve created a new way for network owners to safeguard users and communicate urgent information. Using Vantio UAR, network owners can identify a specific user or group of users for any range of communication and remediation events. For example, users with infections on their PCs can be populated in UAR and sent to a site informing the users how to fix the specific situation. Infected devices may need to be isolated from the rest of the network and cleaned up so other end users are not affected. Using Vantio UAR, users can also be sent a friendly reminder of the status of billing or other service-related communications.

How Vantio UAR Works

Vantio UAR is a policy software module that is integrated with Vantio caching server that provides a ‘walled garden’ policy framework to send a specific user or group of users to designated destinations. A walled garden may be created in Vantio UAR to carry out specific network processing, prevent network abuse, manage network access, or simply communicate with end users.

Vantio UAR

Vantio UAR allows for policy segmentation across users and groups. For example, connectivity for seriously infected devices can be restricted to remediation resources, while limited network access is permitted for less serious problems. Vantio UAR also allows for user self-service applications, permitting unrestricted network access following policy compliance.

Keyfeatures – Vantio UAR

Key Features

  • Fast path processing—High-performance, in-line processing algorithm with Vantio
  • Scalable platform capable of handling hundreds of thousands of [resource records] per server
  • Client Segregation—Segregates end users by client IP or destination IP of DNS caching nameserver
  • Service diversity—Allows policy differentiation among users and groups
  • Advanced and patented capability to monitor, block, redirect, record, and report in real-time
  • Advanced redundancy—Intelligent, distributed event forwarding for service resiliency and load sharing
  • Advanced and secure APIs for user and group service provisioning
network owner – Vantio UAR

Network Owner Benefits

  • Allows simplified administrative service creation for billing, communication, and quarantine
  • Cost reduction—on-line and automated processes vs. brick-and-mortar support
  • Operational simplification—enables self-provisioning, user-guided remediation
  • Speeds time to remediation by eliminating manual processes
  • Simple deployment; no new equipment and no changes to the network architecture
  • Fast time to market—seamless integration with Vantio
  • Zero architectural impact—No additional network elements in front of the DNS
  • Zero network impact—No increased latency or service degradation
Enduser – Vantio UAR

End User Benefits

  • Improved visibility and service control
  • Better, more timely communication from your network provider (e.g. proactive alert of available remediation alternatives when your computer is infected)
  • Faster resolution of administrative issues, such as billing and service initiation
  • Enables self-service model (less reliance on customer support)
  • Non-intrusive—does not employ any intrusive technologies like DPI (deep packet inspection)
  • Good neighbor effect— Impact from infected users will be mitigated
  • Overall service improvement

Solutions

  • Customer Notifications:
Vantio UAR can be used to send critical notifications to all users or specific users on the network. Some examples of these notifications are safety alerts or other emergency communications, to inform users that they are approaching data usage limits, or to inform users of late bill payments.
  • Self-service applications:
Vantio UAR may be used for self-guided, user-driven network sign-up. Network access during the user sign up process can be limited to a registration portal until account information is collected and verified, after which newly registered users are released from the walled garden with full network privileges.
  • Infected users:
Vantio UAR identifies malware infected users can be employed to direct the worst offenders to a walled garden to clean up their computers.
