With Vantio NXR™, users can simply type any name into a browser address bar to perform a search. Rather than receiving an unhelpful error page, Vantio NXR redirects these Internet service requests to highly relevant search pages that get the user to their intended destination. This eliminates confusion and frustration as well as the need to retype requests into a search box located elsewhere in the browser.

How Vantio NXR Works

Vantio NXR is a policy software module that interprets user entries in the browser address bar, getting users to their intended destinations. When a Web site name cannot be resolved, standard DNS servers return an NXDomain or NXD (Non-existent domain) message. Vantio NXR evaluates the available Website listings and other content that might match the NXD, and guides the user to a search results page.

Responsible redirection is the key to providing useful results to end users. Nominum goes to great lengths to ensure that there is no application disruption or service degradation that occurs in the course of processing users’ Internet service requests. Vantio NXR uses a rich set of policies, configuration and exclusion rules to protect applications and a broad range of user traffic from disruption. These policies can be adjusted manually by the network owner or dynamically improved by NavAssist.

Vantio NXR is the only Vantio™ software module that is not available in a stand-alone configuration. Vantio NXR is only available in conjunction with the NavAssist™ application and together these meet all the requirements for responsible redirection :
