• Consumer Applications

Once you realize that DNS is at the heart of everything everyone does online, the possibilities of creating consumer applications that leverage DNS is not hard to imagine. DNS is the gateway to any service any user wants to access on the Internet. From Web browsing, to blogging, to email, DNS is the critical first step in the digital journey for every user.

Consumer Applications

One of the initial areas we’re exploring is how to make the Internet more accessible by improving the usefulness of the header bar in every browser. Users want a consistent navigation experience regardless of the browser or toolbar they might use. To do this, we launched our first consumer application, NavAssist, which is now delivering relevant and useful search results and navigation suggestions to tens of millions of subscribers worldwide.

We plan to continue delivering unique and engaging consumer applications that will not only serve unfulfilled needs, but just might honor the changing way we all want to use the Internet.

NavAssist

NavAssist is a consumer application that assists consumers in navigating the Internet. It initially started as a dynamic way for end users to recover from typos they might make while entering domain names (such as www.nominum.com). Through experience and customer feedback, NavAssist evolved to be an interactive and useful way for end users to reach their intended destination easier, more informed, with more choices, and with better control than alternative paths. And this experience only gets better, as we add even richer content, digital sign posts and directional markers that aid users in exploring the Internet. Learn More
