VoIP Peering

As VoIP adoption accelerates, providers are implementing VoIP peering exchanges or peering points to interconnect isolated VoIP “islands” and route calls without using the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

VoIP peering requires the creation of a directory that integrates massive amounts of subscriber data from multiple sources – provisioning systems, peering partners, potentially service bureaus with Local Number Portability (LNP) information. This directory must be able to provide very fast query responses while that information is being updated in real time. Consistent millisecond performance and availability is critical.

Nominum Navitas helps VoIP providers establish efficient, high-performance and cost-effective peering arrangements with a highly scalable, ENUM-based directory. Nominum Navitas supports VoIP peering with:
•    Open interfaces for flexible provisioning and information updates
•    Massive scalability to handle hundreds of millions of records
•    An element management system for integration in network operations center management
•    Low latency responses even under load and during update, for fast call set-up times
•    Security against denial of service (DoS) and cache poisoning attacks
