Vantio MDR
Nominum’s Malicious Domain Redirection (MDR) Service Delivery Module is the first effective carrier-class solution that secures Internet users from Web-based malware in real time on a massive scale. MDR is part of the Trusted Response and Universal Enforcement (TRUE) Architecture™ as an optional module for the industry leading Vantio™ Base Server. It incorporates data about malicious websites while intelligently examining DNS requests. If a request to access a malicious site is identified MDR redirects users to a teaching page that includes details about the threat and other information that providers choose to display such as additional services that might be available.
Since virtually every transaction on the Internet starts with a DNS query, Vantio MDR provides comprehensive, proactive protection against a wide variety of Internet threats including phishing. MDR can also be used to block access to illegal content or services, or for provision of value added services such as “rated Internet” which restricts access to content for children or other demographics. MDR relies on Nominum’s next generation aggregated threat database, Centris™ to obtain up to the minute Internet-wide threat data to respond to user queries.

Vantio MDR and the TRUE Architecture greatly improve the Internet experience and demonstrate a clear commitment to providing safe connections for Internet users while lowering costs as a result of fewer support calls. Existing security solutions are poorly suited to stop these attacks and DPI is expensive and impractical to deploy in large networks. Designed by the DNS experts at Nominum, Vantio MDR offers:
- Real time protection against web-based threats for all types of devices and applications
- No new hardware to install and no impact to the existing network architecture
- Carrier-grade scale and performance
- Improved visibility into threats with detailed logging and reporting
- Branding opportunity with provider defined and managed teaching pages
