Collection and Use of Information
Nominum collects two categories of information: (1) information you voluntarily supply and (2) tracking information recorded as you navigate through the website. Some of this information is personally identifiable information ("personal data"), but much of it is not. Personal data is information that identifies a particular person.
Voluntarily Supplied Information
You may have the opportunity to provide us with information, some of which may be personal data. The more you tell us about yourself, the more value we can offer you. Supplying this information is entirely voluntary. However, if you choose not to supply the information, we may be unable to provide you with the products and services we make available to other users of our website. When you submit any personal data over this website, Nominum (i) will use the information for the purposes described at the time you submit it and (ii) may use the information to contact you to make you aware of other products and services of interest (you may opt out of this at any time by following the procedure below). Of course, if you want to remain completely anonymous, you're still free to take advantage of the publicly available content on our website without registration.
Our web pages or e-mail messages may contain a small graphic image called a web beacon, which is sometimes also called a "clear gif", and which allows the party that set the web beacon to monitor and collect certain limited information about the viewer of the web page or e-mail message (such as the type of browser downloading the web beacon, the IP address of the computer that the web beacon is sent to and the time the web beacon was viewed, as well as the URL of the page the web beacon comes from). Web beacons are typically very small (generally 1-by-1 pixel) and invisible to the user, but, in general, any electronic image viewed as part of a web page or e-mail message can act as a web beacon. We may use web beacons for a number of purposes, such as to count visitors to our web pages or to monitor how our users navigate this web site, and we may include web beacons in e-mail newsletters in order to count how many newsletters (or any parts thereof) we sent were actually opened. In addition, third parties that serve ads or content onto this web site or within our e-mails may use web beacons. We do not have control over web beacons used by such third parties.
Opting out of E-mail
You may choose to receive, or not receive, promotional e-mails about Nominum's products and services by contacting us. If you have otherwise provided your e-mail address to us or we have already obtained it, then we may have already contacted you about receiving promotional e-mails separately.
This website is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 13 on this website.
Disclosure of Information
Nominum may make certain personal data available to strategic partners that work with us to provide products and services, or that help us market to customers. For example, when you purchase and activate a Nominum product or service, you authorize Nominum and its service provider to exchange the information you provide during the activation process to carry out service. If you are approved for service, your account will be governed by Nominum's and its service provider's respective privacy policies. Personal data will only be shared by Nominum to provide, improve or promote our products and services; it will not be shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Nominum shares personal data with companies who provide services such as credit card processing, order fulfillment, product delivery, managing and enhancing customer data, customer service, and conducting customer research or surveys. These companies are obligated to protect your information and may be located wherever Nominum operates.
As Required by Law and Enforcement
It may be necessary − by law, legal process, litigation, and/or requests from public and governmental authorities within or outside your country of residence − for Nominum to disclose your personal data. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that for purposes of national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary or appropriate. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce our terms and conditions or protect our operations or users. Additionally, in the event of a reorganization, merger, or sale we may transfer any and all personal data we collect to the relevant third party.
Protection and Storage of Information
All information collected on our website is stored within Nominum and is accessible only by our employees and its specifically authorized contractors and vendors. However, no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the complete security of the information you supply or that such information won't be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet. If you don't want us to know any particular information about you, don't include it in anything that you submit or post to this website or send to us in e-mail. When you use some of Nominum's products, services, or applications or post comments or information on a Nominum forum, the personal data you share is visible to other users and can be read, collected, or used by them. You are responsible for the personal data you choose to submit in these instances. Please take care when using these features.
Access to Personal Data
We make good faith efforts to provide you with access so you can request that we correct the data if it is inaccurate or delete the data if Nominum is not required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes. Upon written request, we will provide you with a record of your personal data stored by Nominum.
