VoIP CALLS STAY ON THE NET WITH ENUM

May 15 2006

Nominum’s Albert Gouyet to Present on Panel: “ENUM Now?

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, 15 May 2006 – Nominum, the leading provider of network naming and addressing solutions, today announced that Albert Gouyet, VP of product management and marketing, will present in an ENUM panel session entitled “ENUM Now?” at VON Europe on Wednesday 17 May, 2006. VON Europe runs from May 15-18, 2006 and is being held at the Stockholm International Fairs, Sweden.

The ENUM standard bridges the gap between traditional phone numbers and converged networks, allowing VoIP calls to stay on IP networks instead of being routed through the public switched telephone system. By implementing ENUM, operators will be able to greatly increase call quality, reduce costs, and plan for future added services that require end-to-end IP sessions such as video, conferencing, presence, and gaming.

During the panel session, Gouyet will draw on Nominum’s expertise on ENUM to present the current state of the market, its challenges, and possible evolution. He will also address the ENUM end game, latency and scalability issues, and how the leading communication providers are deploying ENUM to deal with multiple roots or authorities.

“The current ENUM implementations signal that this standard has arrived and is here to take internet telephony into the twenty first century,” said Albert Gouyet, VP of product management and marketing, Nominum. “ENUM is essential to connecting the disparate islands of VoIP, enabling IP traffic to finally stay web bound. In doing so, ENUM will allow operators across the globe to realise significant operational efficiencies.”

Nominum recently launched Nominum Navitas, the industry’s first ENUM-based solution designed and optimised for the routing demands of converging telecommunications networks. Nominum Navitas is an ENUM-based IP-application routing directory server that enables the connection of advanced IP-based communications services between separate networks. This solution fills an essential role in emerging VoIP peering architectures and IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS), providing greater visibility into the routing infrastructure and accelerating the delivery of high quality, low cost VoIP and advanced services.

Albert Gouyet’s session takes place on Wednesday 17 May, 2006 at 10:30am in the Stockholm International Fairs, Sweden.
