FierceVoIP Selects Nominum for its "Fierce 15" VoIP Companies of 2006
Nov 8 2006
Redwood City, Calif., – Nov. 8, 2006 – Nominum, the leading provider of network
naming and addressing solutions, today announced that it has been named to
FierceVoIP’s annual Fierce 15 list. This distinction honors Nominum as one of
the top 15 companies on the cutting-edge of the constantly evolving VoIP
industry.
The FierceVoIP Fierce15 awards represent the best companies in
the VoIP space that are making significant strides in the delivery and continued
improvement of VoIP on a global scale. Winners, selected from amongst hundreds
of organizations, demonstrated themselves to be “fierce” through their
innovations in the marketplace.
“FierceVoIP congratulates Nominum on
being named as one of the Fierce15,” said Dan Rosenbaum, editor of FierceVoIP.
“By providing ENUM, DNS and DHCP naming and addressing solutions, Nominum is
helping enable the VoIP revolution.”
As the demand for connecting
advances services over IP-based networks increase, the costs and technical
limitations associated with routing these services over the Public Switched
Telephone Network (PSTN) threaten to reduce the overall value for service
providers. Nominum has applied its deep expertise in IP addressing and naming
technologies to the problem of routing VoIP and other IP-application traffic in
the converging communications landscape. Nominum Navitas builds on ENUM, the
industry-standard specification, to create an IP-application Routing Directory
(IPRD) for next-generation networks. With Navitas, carriers can implement
“inter-carrier” VoIP peering with partners and also allows least-cost routing
information, so that a call to a PSTN-based destination can travel as far as
possible over IP-networks before transferring over to the PSTN, thereby reducing
costs.
"Nominum is proud to be recognized in this market by FierceVoIP
with such a product as Navitas,” said Albert Gouyet, vice president of
marketing, Nominum, Inc. “FierceVoIP is a clear frontrunner in delivering news
and information on the VoIP industry. We are honored to be a part of the
Fierce15 as VoIP continues to gain traction in homes and business around the
world.”
