NetIQ Selects Nominum to Boost DNS Performance
Apr 6 2004
Nominum’s Caching Name Server Chosen to Support Massive Demand for NetIQ’s WebTrends Reporting Service
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. April 6, 2004 – Nominum, a pioneering provider of IP address infrastructure software, today announced that NetIQ, a leading provider of Systems & Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, has chosen Nominum Foundation™ Caching Name Server to, improve name resolution scalability and query response for its WebTrends® Reporting Service.
WebTrends Reporting Service delivers actionable insight into Web visitor behavior to allow organizations to acquire more Web site visitors, convert visitors into customers and retain more customers by segmenting those likely to return. To accommodate the continued growth in customer demand, the company needed a caching solution to address the service’s scalability and performance needs. NetIQ chose Foundation Caching Name Server based on the server’s ability to handle several times the query traffic of alternative solutions available on the market. Following a full deployment, Foundation Caching Name Server outperformed previous caching servers by handling the same volume of lookups with 3-4 times less CPU utilization. As a result, NetIQ was able to significantly reduce the overall number of cache servers required while maintaining full redundancy. In addition to providing a service that can scale well with future growth, the company now has access to a more robust set of statistics than previously available.
“DNS performance and reliability are absolutely critical to Web Trends Reporting Service,” stated Dustin Harris, IT network and security manager for NetIQ. “Nominum delivered a scalable and easy-to-manage solution capable of supporting the name resolution demands of the service. Nominum’s technical expertise and commitment to customer satisfaction were key factors in our decision to select their product.”
WebTrends Reporting Service has been recognized by PC Magazine as one of the Best Products of 2003. By deploying Foundation Caching Name Server, NetIQ ensures its customers will continue to receive excellent performance and timely responses with Web Trends Reporting Service.
Nominum Foundation Caching Name Server is a dedicated-to-caching domain name server and Internet performance accelerator.
