Giga, a wholly owned subsidiary of Forrester Research Inc, evaluated and compared the four leading vendors in the IP Address Management (IPAM) market based on ten criteria ranging from company stability, expertise and partnerships to product breadth, pricing and support. According to the Giga report, titled IP Address Management Vendor ScoreCard, First Quarter 2003: Cisco, Lucent, MetaInfo, Nominum, March 13, 2003: “The need for Global 2000 enterprises to support global business processes with applications that require IPAM structures is growing rapidly. The combination of IP, dynamic host communications protocol (DHCP), domain name services (DNS) and various enterprise directories, with the resulting complexity to manage the dynamic corporate environment, will push network administrators in enterprises to discard the manual handling of IP addresses and implement IPAM systems by 2005.”
