Mexico’s Network Information Center Selects Nominum to Deliver Superior DNS Service
Apr 28 2003
The .MX Operator Chooses Nominum’s Authoritative Name Server to Support Mexico’s Growing Internet Population
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. April 28, 2003 – Nominum, a pioneering provider of IP address infrastructure software, today announced that the Network Information Center of Mexico (NIC-Mexico), the organization responsible for operating the .MX country code domain, has chosen Nominum Foundation™ Authoritative Name Server (ANS) to improve service levels for all Internet commerce and communications in the .MX domain.
NIC-Mexico administers more than 70,000 registered domains in the .MX top-level domain, with more than 25% of the DNS requests originating in the United States. Under President Vicente Fox’s E-Mexico program, both the number of domains and the number of DNS requests are growing rapidly. To accommodate this continued growth, the organization evaluated DNS servers and selected Foundation ANS as the best choice for supporting an entire nation’s DNS traffic.
According to Oscar Robles-Garay, General Director at NIC-Mexico, “Foundation ANS answers key concerns for organizations like ours that are responsible for the service, performance and security of Internet communications at the country code level. Based on Nominum’s unique focus and expertise, we are confident that ANS is the most reliable solution to provide the .MX domain with 100% DNS availability while supporting the growing rate of international DNS traffic.”
Nominum Foundation ANS is a dedicated authoritative name server that has higher performance – in query responses per second – than any other DNS server product able to scale to a million names. Built to support the organizations that host large DNS zones and large numbers of zones, including top-level domain (TLD) operators, global enterprises, and service providers with strict service-level obligations, Foundation ANS is the optimal choice when DNS scalability, availability, and manageability are most critical. The server’s configuration can be modified without re-starting, which eliminates a significant cause of planned downtime. ANS supports the DNSSEC protocol to provide an extra layer of security for Internet users by ensuring the authenticity of DNS communications.
