The Internet changes every instant. Keeping up with these changes is a real challenge. Nominum’s Centris™ server aggregates data about threats and provides this data to network elements, such as Vantio MDR. Centris makes the network-wide provisioning of threat data super-efficient and minimizes the time between when a threat is discovered and when protection is available. Used in combination with Vantio MDR and the SKYE Network Protection Service, Centris is part of an overall solution to protect networks and end-users.

How Centris™ Works

Using many security products is like “reading yesterday’s newspaper”. Security threats can change every few minutes, while the “signatures” used to detect them often take hours or days to update. Because of this delay, research shows that most security products detect less than half of online threats at the time end-users are exposed to them.

Centris closes the “vulnerability gap”. The Centris server is a purpose-built, high performance database that aggregates, stores, and serves information about Internet threats such as botnet command and control domains at unprecedented speed (updates as often as every minute) and scale (capacity for over a billion threat records). Centris is deployed in-network, and securely receives ‘pushed’ threat updates from services such as Nominum’s off-net SKYE Network Protection Service. Centris then serves this data to in-network Vantio MDR enforcement points as often as every minute.
