As a domain owner or domain hosting service provider, availability and security are top of mind. Nothing will hurt a business more than having its Website unavailable or customers misdirected to a fake site due to poorly designed authoritative DNS implementations.
ANS Premier and ANS
Authoritative Name Server Premier (ANSP) and Authoritative Name Server (ANS) are in-network, software-only products that lead the industry with 100% uptime, DNSSEC support, and consistently high performance because we optimized the products specifically for the authoritative DNS function. In addition, proven management features help administrators easily support complex network environments with minimal operational overhead.
How ANS Premier and ANS Works
When we built ANS and ANSP, we set out to fundamentally change how authoritative servers are designed. We started with an initial premise that caching and authoritative DNS servers are fundamentally different and cannot be built with the same architecture and code base. Authoritative DNS at its core requires a highly transactional database. We designed ANSP/ANS and their purpose-built, proprietary database to serve over one hundred thousand queries per second with millisecond-level latency. Because DNS data is dynamic, our solutions are designed to allow on-the-fly updates to zone data without server restart. Other solutions on the market can take hours to restart. That’s no joke when you need to get your Website records updated in the midst of the holiday shopping season.

DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) is an industry standards-based security extension to the DNS protocol to make it more secure by cryptographically signing (digital signature) authoritative DNS data. Without proper tools, DNSSEC administration is a labor intensive, error prone and a generally frustrating experience. ANSP and ANS completely automate DNSSEC lifecycle management. Automation ensures accuracy and reliability so that Internet resources are always available while reducing operational overhead.
ANSP also includes support for multimastering, which allows two servers to act as masters (in an active-active architecture) for the same zones. This eliminates single points of failure in the DNS, which is especially crucial for supporting dynamic DNS (DDNS) architectures. In addition, ANSP includes support for network visibility and event awareness that collects, correlates, and aggregates DNS query data. The data can be logged for offline analysis or live query traffic can be analyzed. Filters can be used to screen data for specific attributes of interest. Now, you won’t have to spend hours looking for that needle in the haystack.
